Warrior Zone
This is an awesome project.
A few years ago, soldiers were surveyed to find out what they wanted in their recreation centers and the data was compiled to create Warrior Zone facilities. These entertainment compounds serve as community areas where soldiers can take reprieve from their barracks and work and hang out with family and friends. It house computers, tvs, Xbox consoles, pool tables, poker tables, a theater with 30 reclining chairs and an outdoor bbq patio.

“It’s the only place in the Army that’s got it and it’s fitting that it’s here at the Big Red One. We have 11,000 soldiers deployed. When they come back, the next group will be moving out. This is a place that’s constantly moving so to have a facility like this is fantastic. It’s 25,000 square feet of fun, games, computers, televisions and it’s just right within walking distance of your home,” said Major General William Mayville Jr. to soldiers at the ribbon cutting. Major General Mayville is the commanding general of Fort Riley and the 1st Infantry Division.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations: I’ve been burning up hours playing this game and not really getting anywhere. I estimate that I’ve spent 6 hours opening all the shops and dens and not getting a single achievement for any of it. I have a huge weight off my shoulders though, so I can focus on fighting in other countries and, gasp, start completing missions. I just found a key in the huge cavern that exists under one of the buildings. Some very awesome, God of War/Shadow of Colossus like visuals there.
The other game in my life right now is Hero Academy on iOS. We are almost desperate to find a multiplayer tactics game that we can play online but also just take turns. The field is mighty thin. At first Hero Academy seems very shallow, as a cartooned-up toy for children, but then you realize that only having five moves and a very limited pool of items to use, the choices become tougher. The reset turn button gets hit a lot in games on my end. Playing as the Dark Elves, I’ve been beaten almost every single time by my two friends and I’m not entirely sure it’s me. It probably is, but I won’t commit to it as a fact. I’m psychically begging Robot Entertainment for the next paid DLC heros, the drunken steampunk dwarves that they resemble. By the drawings, they seem to have mastered long range weapons. I can’t wait to part with two more dollars.

15 Minute Review: Lunar Racer
If there is one stand out multiplayer game on iOS it’s Super Stick Man Golf. More mobile/iOS games need LAN multiplayer battle modes. So I was very happy to see that Noodlecake Studios released Lunar Racer, keeping it in the family with side scrolling racing with power ups and the kind of racing that makes you laugh out loud the whole way around the moon.
Lunar Racer employs simple, clean graphics, fantastic music and great control mechanics. Rotating the screen spins your car around for flips, and two buttons control gravity and nitro. If you spin the car with the nitro burning, it’ll affect the way your car travels across the map, so learning that holding the nitro down slows you down when your backwards and speeds you up when you’re pointing forward. A bonus level I got to play had me using nitro to break free of the moon’s orbit to collect coins in the sky and I was practically flying around the planet making bank.
The weapons are simple, but don’t overpower the rivalries. You can shoot a few missiles at a friend and take him out, but a good jump and boost will catch you right back up. Later levels have the power-ups well placed that only certain jumps or speeds will put them in your path and take a little more timing and memorization to plan for.
I really enjoy games that use tilt mechanics that aren’t necessary to control the game’s primary functions, but are fun to do and make you feel like your parents playing Super Mario Brothers on the NES, waving the control pad around like it helps do anything better. My three year old son should be able to play this game without any problems.
Now that we have more friends on GameCenter, it’s more fun offline as well, checking friends times and giving a good ribbing as you walk by their cubicle.
Right now, Lunar Racer is $1. There’s no reason not to get it.

Proud To Be A Gamer – Child’s Play
Gamers across the world raised $3.5 million for Child’s Play this year; another record into the record books. I’ve been a part of it every year and I’m happy to do so.
